For those who wish to have totally individualized medical treatment plan and/or have complex medical challenges, we offer IV therapy based on intensive laboratory analysis, and a complete health review.
IV Therapy is only one of the modalities that has been at the core of our practice, the Center for the Healing Arts. Are you ready to make the decision to explore a holistic and preventive approach to improving and maintaining your health at the Center. We are a unique health care facility, rare even among natural integrative medical providers. The Center was founded in 1992 by Dr. Robban Sica, a visionary who saw the need for preventive, sustainable and health-promoting approach to medicine over 30+ years ago. She has studied and incorporated a very broad based range of approaches, both conventional and complementary. Her passionate commitment to expanding the availability and standards integrative medicine as well as the respect given her by her colleagues is demonstrated by her election as president of the International College of Integrative Medicine and the other national boards she has and continues to serve on.
In addition to her extensive integrative experience and knowledge, Dr. Sica can provide conventional services as a medical doctor, when naturopathic or other alternative providers are limited, such as prescription medications, bio-identical hormone replacement, intravenous nutritional support and chelation therapy.
Illness develops when the amount of stressors on your system exceeds the threshold of your ability to cope with them. Identifying and correcting these underlying causes not only results in relief of symptoms and prevention of potential illness by building a greater reserve, this method actually restores optimal health and well-being. This approach has been overwhelmingly successful for the many patients who come to see us with chronic, complex, and difficult medical problems.
We take into account all aspects of you as a whole person to INDIVIDUALIZE care to your needs. During your full hour initial visit, we’ll be working to:
Our practice is also unique because we search out and provide you with cutting edge services, unavailable from conventional or even most alternative practices. Let me give you some examples:
Our high standard in selecting the services and products we offer is to deliver competence, effectiveness, and results as well as exceptional customer service. We care about your needs and strive to be responsive to your concerns.
A common question we’re asked about insurance coverage. Unfortunately, as managed care insurance reimbursements for medical services have dwindled, the insurance companies essentially dictate to the average physician how much time they can spend per patient. The national average for an office visit is 3 to 5 minutes actually with the doctor, many times after waiting for hours. Most time is spent with the nurse or other physician extender.
Dr. Sica does not want your health care to be compromised in this way. We always schedule plenty of time for your visit so that all of your problems, symptoms, and questions can be addressed, which is impossible in a practice that accepts whatever insurance will cover. These extended visits do require we charge more than the conventional office visit. However, over time, our patients’ have been very happy to watch their health care costs plummet dramatically, especially the number of doctor visits and medications needed per year. In the long run, the investment in time and money you make in feeling truly healthy will save you, not just money but lost time at work or with family, side effects from medications, prevention of additional diseases. The improvement in the quality of your health is, of course, priceless.
By coming to the Center for the Healing Arts, you are embarking on an adventure to optimize your health & wellness. We look forward to a long and healthy relationship with you!
Each Intravenous Infusion is prepared on-site by our trained infusion nurses to ensure freshness & stability, in a saline or sterile water solution bag. A flexible catheter is placed into the patient’s vein. The treatment solution flows from the bag down the tubing and into the bloodstream via the catheter, via this intravenous (IV) infusion. By delivering nutrients & minerals directly into the bloodstream, the IV enables nutrient absorption & energy production at the cellular level. The IV route bypasses problems with digesting and absorbing supplements taken orally, due to gut dysbiosis or other digestive issues, and insured 100% nutrient bio-availability.
All of the Wellness – Level 1 IVs are offered at all 3 locations.
Some Therapies require special equipment and that is only located at our main Westport office.
The digestive tract only absorbs a limited amount of nutrients when taken orally. Intestinal and digestive problems further reduce the amount the body gets from supplements. Delivering these nutrients by IV infusion directly into the bloodstream provides a full therapeutic dose.
IV infusion of these critical nutrients is also a faster delivery method than a tablet or capsule. For instance, rapid infusion often provides quick relief in managing uncomfortable symptoms like headaches or chronic pain.
IV Therapy has been extensively administered in our office for decades as well as by thousands of integrative practitioners throughout the world. From many years of experience, it has been observed to be well-tolerated. As IV solution improves hydration, most will feel better. Of course, allergies and intolerances vary from person to person so It is possible to react to an ingredient in the formula, but that is very uncommon. This is also why some IV require higher levels of Medical Assessment and/or Labs before starting the process.
The treatment can take between 20 and 40 minutes depending on the IV. Vitamins and nutrients have adequate time to be absorbed through the bloodstream, while the patient rests in a comfortable recliner. The experience can be quite pleasant and relaxing. Patients can chat with others, have a snack they brought along, catch up on reading or listen to whatever pleases them via their cell phones and earphones.
More and more people are turning to IVs as preventative therapy in their Wellness regimes or to quickly turn the tide when they feel a “Bug” coming on, or are chronically fatigued.
Some Insurance companies will provide reimbursement for IV Therapy for certain diagnoses, however others do not. You can check with your carrier for what is covered under your policy. In order to assist our patient, we provide a completely completed (HCFA form) CMS insurance form, so that the patient can submit it to their insurance company for direct reimbursement. This medical practice does not participate with any insurance, Medicare or Medicaid.
